HARRISONBURG — Buttons for First Night Harrisonburg will be available for purchase on Court Square immediately following Friday’s Christmas parade in downtown Harrisonburg.
Those attending the officially named Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday will have the first chance to purchase buttons to the New Year’s Eve festival, which takes place at venues in and around downtown. Buttons will then go on sale to the general public the following day.
First Night buttons grant admission to all First Night venues, performances, and activities.
First Night Harrisonburg 2014 has an impressive lineup of entertainment, including local act Glick & Phillips, which is back after a several-year absence from the festival. The comedic duo would regularly sell out its performances when the act was a First Night staple in the 1990s and 2000s. Other acts, from local bands to comedians to magicians and more, will provide entertainment for both kids and adults at the family friendly, alcohol-free First Night.
Starting Saturday, advance buttons are available for $6 each (children under 6 are admitted free) at the following locations:
Daily News-Record – 231 South Liberty Street, Harrisonburg
Downtown Books – 49 W. Water Street, Suite B, Harrisonburg
Friendly City Food Co-op – 150 East Wolfe Street, Harrisonburg
Glen’s Fair Price Store – 227 North Main Street, Harrisonburg

Buttons will be available for $8 starting at 5 p.m. on the night of the event at the Harrisonburg City School Board office at One Court Square in downtown Harrisonburg. They will also be available at many of the entertainment venues from 6:15 to 9 p.m. that night.
Those purchasing their buttons early wear it to Harrisonburg’s Chick-fil-A on Dec. 26 to get a free chicken biscuit or chicken sandwich.
First Night Harrisonburg highlights the arts and brings the community together by transforming retail stores, churches, and downtown businesses into performance venues that showcase local and regional talent. Entertainment will include many community favorites such as live music, comedy, children’s activities, a grand finale fireworks show, and more.
