NEW: Former Adult Store Sold At Auction
Group Plans Radical Change For Pamela's Secrets
HARRISONBURG — The former Pamela’s Secrets has a new owner — and, it would appear, a business plan about as different from the store's old use as one could imagine.
New Creation, a non-profit ministry that plans to create retail space to raise awareness and funds to help victims of human trafficking, won an auction for the former adult store this morning at the Rockingham County Courthouse, according to the group. The amount of the bid was not immediately available. The property is at 3051 S. Main St., in Harrisonburg
New Creation called the campaign to buy the store, “Operation: Porn Shop Takeover.”
It’s not entirely clear what products the group plans to sell at the store, but its website features earrings, necklaces, scarves and other accessories.
Last year, the former owner of Pamela’s Secrets, Augustus Julias, 49, pleaded guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to distribute alpha-pyrrolidinopentiophenone, one of the main ingredients in the meth-like drug known as bath salts. Julias was accused of selling bath salts at the now-shuttered shop. He was sentenced to nine years in prison.
