HARRISONBURG - A former Harrisonburg doctor's office employee accused of using the names of fake patients to obtain prescription painkillers pleaded guilty this morning in Rockingham County Circuit Court.
Rachel Wilson, 32, entered guilty pleas to seven felony counts of obtaining a prescription drug by fraud and seven misdemeanor counts of falsifying patient records. She worked in the billing department at Harrisonburg Community Health Center.
As part of a plea agreement, Judge T.J. Wilson placed the defendant on first-offender status for the felony charges and issued a 90-day suspended jail sentence on each of the misdemeanor charges.
If she completes two years of supervised probation, the felony charges will be reduced to misdemeanors.
The Daily News-Record will have a complete report in Friday's print and online editions.
