HARRISONBURG - Former Luray pastor James Richard Daley was sentenced to six years in prison Monday in Page County Circuit Court for six counts of aggravated sexual battery of a minor under 13, according to online records.

Daley, 71, is the former pastor of Beth Eden Lutheran Church. The charges against him stem from incidents in 2011 and 2012 that the Luray Police Department and Page County Sheriff's Office investigated. Police arrested Daley last summer.

The victim's sex, age or whether he or she was a member of Daley 's church have not been released to protect the child's identity.

Page County Sheriff John Thomas has said Daley's wife, Margaret, ran a day care, which required her to report suspected abuse if she were aware of it. She faces a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, which is set for trial on Sept. 23.
