HARRISONBURG — West Grace Street from South Main Street to the railroad tracks will be closed to vehicular traffic for nearly four months starting Nov. 5, according to a release today from James Madison University and the city's Department of Public Works. However, a portion of that closure — specifically the section from Main to Walnut Street — will remain open for residents, their visitors, contractors and parking, the release said.
The section is scheduled to reopen on Feb. 25.
The closure will allow workers to install new sewer and water lines, and reconfigure existing ones, for JMU’s new student housing project.
As part of the closure, a temporary city transit bus stop at 396 High St., between Grace and Cantrell Avenue, will be added to the bus schedule.
The Daily News-Record will update this story as details become available.
