NEW: Court Receives Grant To Preserve Records
By PRESTON KNIGHT
HARRISONBURG — The Library of Virginia has awarded the office of the clerk of Rockingham County Circuit Court a conservation grant worth more than $13,000.
Clerk Chaz Evans-Haywood says this is the 13th grant received by the office since he took over in 2008, totaling more than $160,000. He uses the money to preserve and secure court records by cleaning them, rebinding them when necessary and providing public access through digital imaging.
Items covered by the latest grant include a marriage book from 1791 to 1852 and voter registers from 1904 to 1928.
