HARRISONBURG — Harris Corp. has sold its shuttered data center on Harrisonburg’s north end back to the facility's previous owner.
The $35 million deal transferring ownership of the Tyco Street facility to DBT Data was filed late Friday afternoon in the Rockingham County Courthouse. Harris bought the 13-acre property from DBT Data in March 2010 for $41.6 million.
The Florida-based company invested $22 million in remodeling the 140,000-square-foot building for use as a cloud data storage center, but the project flopped. Harris closed the facility in February 2012 and has been looking for a buyer since.
It’s not immediately clear what DBT Data plans to do with the property.
