HARRISONBURG – The city and Rockingham County will collect household hazardous waste materials Saturday morning.
The collection will take place from 8 a.m. to noon at Harrisonburg’s recycling facility, at 2055 Beery Road. All city and county residents are invited to recycle any number of leftover household products that cannot be washed down drains or placed in regular garbage.
Those items include oil-based paint, solvents, pesticides, syringes and needles, antifreeze and cleaners. Latex paint, chlorinated solvents and containers larger than five gallons will not be accepted.
The items must be in their original containers. Each household is limited to five containers.
Officials recommend combining like items, such as fluorescent lights could be bundled together.
