HPD Investigates Credit Card Fraud

HARRISONBURG — City police are seeking help in determining the identity of a woman they think might have been involved in an attempted credit card fraud.

According to a press release issued Saturday, a man reported on July 28 that his credit card number had been used in an attempt to buy items from a store in the 200 block of Burgess Road at the Harrisonburg Crossing shopping center. He told officers that his card had not been stolen, only his card number.

Video surveillance was obtained of a possible suspect, the release states, and a still photo of that person was released Saturday afternoon.

Anyone with information about the identity of the woman in the photograph or who might have more information about the case is asked to contract the Criminal Investigations Division of the Harrisonburg Police Department at 437-2640. Callers wishing to remain anonymous can provide tips by calling Crime Solvers at 574-5050.
