NEW: Luray KOA To Upgrade Campground
Move Part Of National Rebranding
The KOA campground in Luray is make the transition to a designated KOA “Holiday” campground, according to a release from the Billings, Mont.-based camping company.
The change means the Luray KOA will offer more amenities geared toward campers looking for a “base camp” for their visit to the central Valley.
The designation is part of a system-wide “brand structure” for the iconic camping enterprise, which was founded in Billings in 1962. The new branding initiative will allow campers to better identify specific offerings at each of the company’s 485 campgrounds across the country.
Over the next few years, each KOA campground will be rebranded as a KOA Journey, KOA Holiday or KOA Resort campground. The Journey campgrounds will offer basic amenities and facilities while the Holiday and Resort camps will offer successively more amenities and features.
“I do believe that KOA should move forward and become a leader in offering high-end camping,” said Erich Schumacher, who purchased the Luray KOA in 1997 with his wife, Sulamith.
