HARRISONBURG — Mercy House Executive Director Twila Lee is retiring at the end of the year.
Lee, 67, has led the city homeless shelter since 2002. Her last day will be Dec. 31, she said.
Mercy House, which opened in 1988, serves about 40 homeless people, including children, in apartments the organization owns on North High and Liberty streets. The main office is also on North High Street.
The shelter runs two thrift stores in Harrisonburg, too. About 30 people are employed at the various Mercy House-related buildings.
The shelter is now seeking applicants for Lee’s position.
