Police: Staunton Man Hit By Two Vehicles North Of Harrisonburg
HARRISONBURG — A Staunton motorcyclist died on Interstate 81 early Saturday after he was struck by two vehicles, according to the Virginia State Police.
Samuel L. Crowe, 59, was riding his 2003 Harley-Davidson southbound at 1:16 a.m. at mile marker 254, about five miles north of Harrisonburg in Rockingham County, when he was hit first by a tractor-trailer and then a passenger vehicle, state police Sgt. F.L. Tyler said. Crowe died at the scene, police said.
Ronnie R. Richardson, 25, of Roanoke, was operating the truck, a 2001 International, while Edward Hutchins, 46, of Irvington, N.J., was driving the car, a 2007 Cadillac. As of Saturday afternoon, the crash was still under investigation.
Tyler noted that it was raining at the time of the incident.
