Pickup Driver Charged With DUI

John Wayne Price, 63, of Luray, was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence.

UPDATE: Virginia State Police have upgraded the charges against John Wayne Price to felony manslaughter and felony hit and run.


A Gordonsville man died Sunday night after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck in Page County. Francis H. Watt Jr., 59, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Sgt. Les Tyler of the Virginia State Police.

Tyler said emergency crews responded to the intersection of U.S 211 and U.S. 340 shortly before 5 p.m.

Tyler said the crash involved Watt's 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a 1997 Ford pickup, driven by John Wayne Price, 63, of Luray.  

He said Watt was traveling eastbound on U.S. 211. The pickup was traveling westbound on U.S. 211 when it turned left to head south on U.S 340, striking the motorcycle.  The two vehicles then collided at the intersection.

Watt's passenger, Margaret B. Watt, 53, was flown to the U.Va. Medical Center in Charlottesville. Her condition is unknown. 

Tyler said Price was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence. He is being held without bond at the Page County Jail.
