HARRISONBURG — The Augusta County Sheriff’s Office arrested the sister of a fugitive homicide suspect and charged her with accessory after the fact of first-degree murder.
Laura Lee Williams, whose age and address were not immediately available, was arrested in connection with the shooting death last week of Richard Orebaugh, 80, of Mount Sidney, deputy Felicia Glick said. No other details of her involvement were released, and she is being held at Rockingham County Jail, where she was booked on Monday.
Police are continue to seek the murder suspect, Richard Clay Smith, 47, of Weyers Cave. He has been on the loose since the Thursday shooting.
Police were also looking for his girlfriend, Andrea Mullan, 32, of Elkton, but she was apprehended in New Jersey on Monday. She is suspected of assisting Smith during a crime spree that includes an armed robbery of the 7-Eleven store in Penn Laird, and has outstanding felony warrants for fraud and illegal use of a credit card in Page County.
Williams and Mullan are close friends, Glick said.
Police believe Smith is using Orebaugh’s blue 2002 Ford Ranger extended cab pickup truck with Virginia license plate XWW-1871 as he evades authorities.
