HARRISONBURG — An Elkton man died and three others were taken to area hospitals following a single-car crash on Lacey Spring Road on Saturday night.
Steven Alan Brooks, 22, was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse eastbound at about 9 p.m. when he ran off the left side of the road, overcorrected, went off the right side, struck a tree and overturned the vehicle, state police Sgt. F.L. Tyler said Sunday morning. Tyler said Brooks lived in Mount Solon, but Lindsey Funeral Home reported he lived in Elkton.
Brooks was ejected and died at the scene, Tyler said. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, and alcohol and speed were factors in the crash, Tyler said.
Brooks’ three passengers were taken to hospitals, but it wasn’t immediately known Sunday morning which ones and how many went via medical helicopter.
The passengers were Dekewoe Bowman, 22; Grace Roschelle, 24; and Joshua Dale, 22. No addresses were available for them.
Tyler said none of the passengers were wearing seatbelts, either.
The crash, which occurred just west of U.S. 11, is still under investigation by Trooper I.S. Sargent.
