HARRISONBURG - The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office has released a photo of and information on the suspect in a reported armed robbery of the 7-11 convenience store overnight in Penn Laird.

Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson said a man presented a note and gun and demanded money sometime after 3 a.m. today at the store on Spotswood Trail. The clerk complied, giving the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash before he fled.

According to a press release, the man left the business in an unknown direction of travel, possibly in a vehicle described as a dark-colored, two-toned Dodge pickup truck with top marker cab lights and possibly a dog box on the back of the truck bed area.

The suspect is a white male with a tanned skin complexion, about 5 foot 10 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He is in his late 40s or early 50s and wore a camouflage jacket with a hood and camouflage baseball-style hat and blue jeans and had scruffy facial hair partly graying in color.

It is believed that the suspect initially drove into the parking lot from the westbound side of the store, which would mean that he had been traveling eastbound on U.S 33.

Anyone with any information about this crime is encouraged to call Crime Solvers at 574-5050 or the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office at 564-3800.
