HARRISONBURG — Today the Virginia State Board of Elections put forth a new proposal on whether expired photo identification documents will be allowed for voting purposes.
According to SBE executive assistant Rose Mansfield, the new proposal will allow voters to use a photo ID up to 12 months past its expiration date.
The previous proposal allowed documents that had expired within the the last 30 days.
The new proposal still must be approved by the state attorney general’s office before it goes into effect.
