HARRISONBURG – More than 1,300 local residents are without power after thunderstorms rolled through this evening.

The National Weather Service issued a thunderstorm warning for the area, which expired at 6:45 p.m.

Following a short but powerful burst of rain and wind, Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative reported that 641 customers in Page County and 603 in Shenandoah County suffered outages.

An additional 59 SVEC customers in Augusta County also lost power.

Dominion Virginia Power reported 24 outages in Shenandoah County and another 16 in Page County.

Neither SVEC nor Dominion Virginia Power reported outages in Rockingham County.
