HARRISONBURG - Harrisonburg police arrested a city woman this weekend claiming she stabbed her boyfriend twice during a dispute late Saturday night.

Diadina Morena, 21, is charged with felony aggravated malicious wounding. She faces up to life in prison if convicted.

Lt. Chris Rush said the dispute was domestic.

“It started out verbal, which then led to the offender allegedly stabbing the boyfriend,” he said.

Rush, commander of Harrisonburg Police Department’s criminal investigation division, said officers responded about 11:50 p.m. to the 100 block of West Rock Street for a report of an aggravated assault.

Upon arrival, he said, officers learned the victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was taken by a personal vehicle to Sentara RMH Medical Center. He was then transferred to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, Rush said.

The victim was stabbed in the stomach and shoulder, police say.

Morena is being held without bond at the Rockingham County Jail.
