ObamaCare Not The Answer To High Health Costs

Posted: August 23, 2013

Rick Yoder, I congratulate you on your research of European Health Care systems (“Base Views On Evidence, Not Idealogy,” Aug. 21.) Everything looks great when looking from the outside in. My Canadian cousins give me a different view than yours (they use the British model). Their doctors come here for dollars. Significant health issues bring Canadians to the United States for care. Don’t believe all the numbers. Numbers don’t lie, but liars use numbers.

I’ve been around the world and here is where I trust the care I get — less cross-contamination here.

Health care is only one element in longevity, infant mortality and end-of-life care. We do need to get better and less costly care. Why does a hospital room cost more than a room at the Hilton? Why do emergency care costs vary so widely? ObamaCare is not the answer. Maybe hospitals should be required to post their charges?
