Former Tech Assistant Replaces Durden
HARRISONBURG — A source confirmed Monday what has been believed for weeks: James Madison will named former Virginia Tech quarterbacks coach and play-caller Mike O’Cain its new offensive coordinator.
O’Cain emerged as a candidate shortly after Hal Mumme, who had accepted the Dukes’ OC position, bolted at the last minute for a better job, reportedly at SMU. O’Cain was a candidate during JMU’s initial offensive coordinator search after Jeff Durden was fired Dec. 7.
The 58-year-old O'Cain spent seven seasons at Virginia Tech. He also has been the head coach at N.C. State.
