Royals Win At Buzzer

LYNCHBURG — Sophomore Adam Burroughs hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to lift Eastern Mennonite University to a 76-75 win over Randolph in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Saturday.

 

The Royals improved to 13-8 overall, 6-6 in the ODAC; the Wildcats dropped to 17-4, 8-4.

 

Senior forward Andrew Thorne had 16 points, sophomore guard Dajon Daniel had 14 and junior guard R.J. Sims had 11 for the Royals, who have won three of four.

 

Center Chris Battaglia had 24 points and 12 rebounds for Randolph.

BC Men 75, Roanoke 73: Sophomore forward Ed Reddick scored the game-winner with 1.6 seconds remaining, lifting Bridgewater College to a 75-73 win over Roanoke in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Saturday at Nininger Hall.

 

The Eagles improved to 12-9 overall, 6-6 in the ODAC; the Maroons dropped to 8-13, 1-11.

 

Junior guard Tavis Stapleton had 15 points and Reddick had 14 for the Eagles, who won their second straight game with Ronnie Thomas injured (broken wrist).

 

Kwasi Amponsah had 20 points, Andrew Daniels also had 20, and Daniel Eacho had 14 points and 13 rebounds for Roanoke, which out-rebounded BC 43-26.

EMU Women 83, E&H 51: Sophomore forward Shakeerah Sykes had 16 points and seven rebounds to propel Eastern Mennonite University to an 83-51 win over Emory & Henry in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Saturday in Emory.

 

The Royals, who won their eighth straight, improved to 15-5 overall, 11-1 in the ODAC; the Wasps fell to 7-13, 4-8.

 

Junior guard Steph Rheinheimer had 13 points, and junior forward Kala Yoders and freshman forward Kayley Argenbright each had 11 for EMU.

 

BC Women 76, Randolph 65: Senior guard Jessica Mullen had 18 points, helping Bridgewater College to a 76-65 win over Randolph in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Saturday in Lynchburg.

 

The Eagles, who have won three in a row, improved to 11-8 overall, 8-4 in the ODAC; the Wildcats dropped to 3-17, 1-11.

 

Junior guard Holly Morgan added 16 points and eight rebounds for BC.

 

Abigail Bullins scored 20 points off the bench for Randolph.
