HARRISONBURG — Owen Longacre had 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead Eastern Mennonite University to a 91-84 overtime win over Washington & Lee in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference men’s basketball game Wednesday.

The Royals improved to 10-4 overall, 3-2 in the ODAC; the Generals fell to 6-7, 1-3.

EMU took the lead at the 2:50 mark in overtime when RJ Sims hit a jumper to put the Royals ahead 79-77. They outscored W&L 12-7 the rest of the way.

Sims finished with 19 points, Andrew Thorne had 16, and Dajon Daniel had 10.

Drew Kimberly came off the bench and led the Generals with 20 points.

BC Women 61, Virginia Wesleyan 59: Senior guard Jessica Mullen had a three-point play with seven seconds left, lifting Bridgewater College to a 61-59 win over Virginia Wesleyan in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Wednesday at Nininger Hall.

The Eagles, who have won five straight, improved to 6-5 overall, 4-1 in the ODAC; the Marlins fell to 7-6, 3-2.

Mullen had 19 points while playing all 40 minutes, and junior guard Holly Morgan added 15 points for the Eagles, who ended the game on a 5-0 run.


EMU Women 69, W&L 48: Sophomore forward Shakeerah Sykes had 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench, propelling Eastern Mennonite University to a 69-48 win over Washington & Lee in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference women’s basketball game Thursday at Yoder Arena.

The Royals improved to 8-5 overall, 4-1 in the ODAC; the Generals dropped to 5-6, 2-3.

Sophomore forward Raiven Patterson added 12 points and seven rebounds for EMU’s productive bench, which combined for 43 points.

Wesleigh Vick led W&L with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
