HARRISONBURG — A motorist remained in critical condition Sunday after the mo-ped he was driving crashed with another vehicle Saturday night in southwest Harrisonburg, according to a release from the Harrisonburg Police Department.
Authorities did not release the names of the motorists involved due to the ongoing nature of the investigation. A crash reconstruction team was at the scene of the crash on Sunday investigating the incident.
At about 7:50 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the accident along the 800 block of Stone Spring Road, police said. The road was shut down for about three and a half hours after the crash.
The circumstances involving the accident were unclear as of press time Sunday.
The driver of the mo-ped was transported to Rockingham Memorial Hospital and then flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville with serious injuries, police said.
The driver was listed in critical condition at U.Va., as of Sunday morning, according to police.
