Police are investigating a deadly motorcycle crash that happened Friday evening in northwest Rockingham County.
The single-vehicle crash occurred just before 5:30 p.m. on Criders Road about a half-mile south of Bergton Road.
Michael Scott Dove, 44, of Fulks Run, was riding a 2000 Harley Davidson north on Criders Road when he crossed a bridge and struck the guardrail on the left side, according to the Virginia State Police.
Dove was flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, where he died at about 2:20 this morning, said Sgt. F.L. Tyler, a spokesman for the state police.
Dove was the only person involved in the incident.
The crash remains under investigation, and it’s not clear whether speed, alcohol or other factors played a role.
