HARRISONBURG — Two people were apprehended in a field after trying to elude police Monday evening around Donnagail Drive near Penn Laird and another may still be on the loose, according to police.
Around 6:30 p.m. a Virginia State Police trooper attempted to stop a vehicle on Donnagail, but the driver would not stop or slow down, according to VSP Sgt. F.L. Tyler.
When the vehicle did come to a stop, three individuals got out and started running, police say. It is unclear whether the car crashed or just stopped.
Not long after the chase, around 10 police vehicles, including state police and Rockingham County sheriff’s cruisers, responded to the scene.
Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson said two suspects were apprehended shortly after deputies responded to assist VSP.
Information on the suspects, including their ages and genders, were unavailable Monday night as was any indication as to why they fled.
The incident is still under investigation and no further information was available as of press time Monday, according to VSP.
