Pray For National Restoration

Posted: November 16, 2012

In the Congressional minutes, recorded on Nov. 1, 1777, it was announced: “Forasmuch as it is the indispensible Duty of all Men to adore the superintending Providence of Almighty God, to acknowledge with Gratitude their Obligation to Him for benefits received and to implore such farther Blessings they stand in Need of.” So began the first national Thanksgiving Day in America.

Various groups and even states had observed “Thanksgivings” prior to this, but this was a national first. Those leaders compared to current leaders are about as far apart as the east is from the west. Read carefully their view of God.

Consider the ruling elite of our nation, who will not even issue a proclamation for a day of prayer, yet will accommodate Muslim “holy days.” Are we receiving what we deserve? Yet God is merciful and seldom sends judgment without mercy.

Is there any hope? Yes, when the true Christian church gets serious about their worship and prays for a time of restoration and revival. Pray for our nation this Thanksgiving season.
