HARRISONBURG — Investigators with the RUSH Drug Task Force arrested a Rockingham County man after the search of his home Thursday morning.

Kyle Whetzel, 26, is charged with four felony counts of drug distribution. Investigators say three of the counts are for selling cocaine and one for methamphetamine.

Early Thursday morning, the task force — a combination of officers with the Harrisonburg Police Department, Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police — raided his home in the 9000 block of Waggys Creek Road, near Ottobine.

Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson said investigators seized a small amount of cash and drug paraphernalia.

In 2011, Whetzel pleaded guilty in Rockingham County Circuit Court to misdemeanor credit card fraud and misdemeanor petty larceny. He received a two-year suspended jail sentence.

Whetzel posted a $2,500 bond and was released from Rockingham County Jail.

As of press time, a first appearance in Rockingham County General District Court had yet to be scheduled.
