Right Thinks It Can Disobey The Law
In our zeal to condemn Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy for his comments about slavery in America, we have ignored other aspects of this situation. Mr. Bundy doesn’t believe in obeying our federal and state laws when they inconvenience him.
Equally alarming is the fact that prominent people, politicians and media outlets have cheered him on for his scofflaw attitude. These same people represent a group that claim they will correct America’s faults if elected to power.
Are we to believe that our right-wing proponents will find other laws to overlook if elected? I submit that if they don’t like a law they should change it. In the meantime, be quiet and obey existing laws without complaint.
For those who want a graphic, accurate history of slavery before the Civil War, read Frances Anne Kemble’s book, “Journal of a Residence on a Georgian Plantation in 1838-39.”
