HARRISONBURG — Rockingham Memorial Hospital is hosting several events in recognition of American Heart Month, which is February.
The public asked to participate in the following activities to help raise awareness about heart health. For more information, go to rmhonline.com or call 564-7200.
■ Walk the Walk for Heart Health: RMH will hold a free walk from 9 to 11 a.m. on Feb. 14 at its campus off Port Republic Road just southeast of Harrisonburg. Participants will get a free red scarf, available in the Heart and Vascular Health Center lobby. Registration is not required.
■ Red Out James Madison University girls basketball game: The hospital and university are asking fans to wear red for the Feb. 21 game against Towson. RMH will give blood pressure screenings and heart education at the game.
■ JMU’s Alpha Phi Sorority’s Move Your Phi’t 5K: The sorority’s annual 5K run/walk will be held on Feb. 23 at the JMU Festival Lawn, starting at 9:30 a.m. Participants who register before Feb. 16 get a free T-shirt. Last year’s event raised more than $15,000 for the RMH Heart and Vascular Center. Register online at moveyourphit5k2013.eventbrite.com.
