Sentencing for a Timberville man who intentionally ran down a man with his pickup truck in a city business parking lot is underway in Rockingham County Circuit Court.

Andrew Spitzer, 43, pleaded guilty on Oct. 10 to attempted first-degree murder and felony aggravated malicious wounding. He faces up to life in prison.

Prosecutors say Spitzer used his pickup truck to run over Melvin Campbell, then 36, of Elkton, on Feb. 28, 2012. Witnesses told police that at about 5 p.m. that day, they saw Spitzer, Campbell and a woman arguing in the parking lot of the Royal Food Mart at 1770 E. Market St.
