HARRISONBURG — Most area schools have canceled classes Thursday or are on a delayed schedule, while several events were postponed because of the large snowfall that buried much of the Valley last night and today.
As of this afternoon, snow accumulation Rockingham County and Harrisonburg ranged from about a foot to 20 inches, according to the National Weather Service. The weather service forecasted another inch at most through tonight.
Government offices for Rockingham County and the city of Harrisonburg, however, are scheduled to be open Thursday.
Among the entities that have announced they will be closed Thursday include:
— Harrisonburg City Schools
— Rockingham County Schools
— Page County Schools
— Shenandoah County Schools
— James Madison University
— Blue Ridge Community College
— Parent-teacher conferences for Harrisonburg City Schools are canceled and rescheduled for March 21.
— The ribbon-cutting for the Brent Berry Food Drive at the Walmart on Burgess road will be pushed back to Friday at 9 a.m.
Eastern Mennonite University and Bridgewater Collge will have a delayed opening, with EMU starting at 10 a.m. and BC at 11.
