Bridgeforth 'OK' After Brief Flood
A torrential mid-afternoon rainfall left Bridgeforth Stadium's playing surface under water Saturday, but James Madison University vice president of finance Charlie King said the facility appears to have escaped major damage.
“It's OK,” King said Saturday night.
Water seeped into areas underneath the stadium, including a kitchen and the band room, but King said those problems appeared to be minor.
It was not immediately known whether any other parts of the Godwin Hall/Bridgeforth complex were damaged.
Streets in Harrisonburg -- including downtown -- were flooded by the storm. One former Daily News-Record reporter said on Facebook that 3.6 inches of water collected in his rain gauge during the downpour.
