Story Unfair To Apt.-Complex Residents

Posted: November 15, 2012

The Daily News-Record reported that Thaxton Keith Simms was dead for several days with the door to his apartment on Dutch Mill Court wide open, and that no one nearby wanted to get involved (“They Did Nothing,” Nov. 10).

For the past 10 years, I have lived on Dutch Mill Court. I strongly doubt that no one wanted to get involved. The apartment in question was at the end of the dead-end street, where traffic is lower, so it was easy to miss. People on this street leave their doors open all the time. Children are always running around playing outside, and parents are outside watching them.

A very conscientious landlord has an office in the middle of the street. That landlord, and many tenants I know, would have said something if we thought something was wrong.
