HARRISONBURG — A 42-year-old Valley man is under arrest thanks to an alert pedestrian who called police after seeing someone break into a North Liberty Street home.

At about 5 p.m. Sunday, officers with the Harrisonburg Police Department were dispatched to the 400 block of North Liberty, responding to a breaking and entering in progress, according to a statement from the HPD.

Once on the scene, officers spoke with the pedestrian, who told police he saw a black man “make entry into the home through a window” in the rear of the residence, the statement said.

The HPD officers set up a perimeter around the home and, with the help of a police K9 unit, searched the residence. During the search, they found the suspect, Warren Morris Medley-Green, hiding in the basement.

Medley-Green, who police say lives in the Harrisonburg area, was charged with breaking and entering, property damage and larceny, and is being held at Rockingham County Jail without bond.
