Ticket Holder ‘Shocked’ By Win

Strasburg Woman Claims $100K Prize From Va. Lottery

Posted: June 20, 2013

When Casey Orndorff stopped at an Edinburg gas station earlier this month, she never expected to walk away with $100,000.

Orndorff of Strasburg found she won the sum by scratching off a Virginia Lottery ticket she purchased at Bo’s Belly Barn in Edinburg.

“I was kind of shocked,” said Orndorff in a Virginia Lottery press release.

The release reported that once Orndorff realized she’d won, she called her mother.

“She told me to shut up,” she said.

Orndorff claimed her prize at the Virginia Lottery Harrisonburg office on June 6.

Bo’s Belly Barn also will receive a $750 bonus for selling the winning ticket, according to John Hagerty, a spokesman for Virginia Lottery.

Hagerty said the Edinburg shop has been the site of two other big winners in the last four years: In June 2009, a customer won $250,000 in the Mega Millions game and in December 2011, a patron won $1,000 each week for life from tickets bought at the store.
