Time For Volunteer Trash Pick-Up Day
Thank you, Bryant Harper (“Stop the Littering,” April 28). I also live in the area near James Madison University, and when I stop at the traffic light at Exit 81 and Port Republic Road, I see garbage everywhere on the grass along the entire exit ramp.
It absolutely disgusts me that people do this and have no respect for our beautiful city. When people traveling through the area see the garbage along the roadways, it not only takes away from the beauty here, it tells those people that we just don’t care that the garbage is everywhere. It also tells them that we are too busy to pick it up.
I think Harrisonburg should hold a garbage pickup day on which volunteers could meet at JMU on a Saturday and we could walk the Port Republic area between Peach Grove Avenue and Main Street. You could count me in should that happen.
