Edinburg Motorcyclist Dies In Sunday Afternoon Crash

HARRISONBURG — A Valley man was killed in a traffic crash Sunday morning at the Love’s Travel Stop in Toms Brook.

Sgt. Frederick Tyler of the Virginia State Police said that at 10:30 a.m. Steven Howard Stout, 56, of Edinburg, was riding his 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle east on Mount Olive Road, when a westbound 1997 Ford mobile home pulled in front of him, trying to enter Love’s at the Interstate 81 Exit 291 interchange.

Tyler said that Stout struck the right rear of the motor home. He was transported to Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries at 11:30 a.m.

Police have charged the driver of the mobile home, Charles D. Collette, 75, of Dayton, with reckless driving.

Toms Brook fire and rescue units assisted state police at the scene.
