HARRISONBURG — Laura Toni-Holsinger has been named the new executive director of the United Way of Harrisonburg-Rockingham.

Toni-Holsinger, development and strategy consultant for the RISE Faith Community in Harrisonburg and board president of the Friendly City Food Co-op, was selected out of more than 40 applicants to head up the organization.

She will succeed Betsy Hay, who stepped down in November to take a position at Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.

A graduate of Virginia Tech and Suffolk University, Toni-Holsinger will start in her new role on Jan. 6.

“She brings an impressive combination of nonprofit management and leadership experience that will be a wonderful addition to the United Way staff,” Alan Shelton, board president, said in a news release.
