Two people are dead after the car they were in went off the road and overturned several times in Louisa County shortly after 9 Sunday night, according to a statement from the Virginia State Police.
The crash on U.S. 33 just east of Va. 15, occurred when the driver of a 1995 Honda Civic, Marshall E. Nicholson, 21, of Gordonsville, lost control of the vehicle and ran off the left side of the road, the statement said.
Nicholson and a passenger, Kenneth N. Woodson, 41, of Louisa, were wearing their safety belts, but both were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. No one else was in the car and no one else was hurt, police say.
VSP troopers responded to the wreck and are continuing the investigation into the cause of the crash. Speed is considered a factor in the wreck, the statement said.
