U.S. Immigration Policy Unfair To Immigrants

Posted: May 27, 2014

Most people are opposed to the legalization of many immigrants. If the ENLIST Act is passed, many undocumented immigrants will earn permanent residency if they enlist and serve in the Army.

As Rep. Jeff Denham said, “As a veteran, I can think of no better way to demonstrate your commitment to our nation. It’s a change to military code, not immigration law.”

It’s unfair that the only way illegals can become part of the United States is by enlisting in the Army. Americans don’t see that these immigrants are willing to do the jobs most Americans won’t do. If immigrants prove they are hard workers, wouldn’t that be enough to give them legal status? After all, if it weren’t for immigrants, the United States wouldn’t be the “melting pot” anymore.
