HARRISONBURG — Darlene Piotrowski, one of two people involved in a collision about two miles north of Harrisonburg at Va. 42 and Buttermilk Creek Road on Tuesday, has died, said Jason Ellis, a spokesman for University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
Virginia State Police troopers believe that an Oldsmobile being driven south on Va. 42 by Daniel Ringgold, 63, of Harrisonburg, crossed the centerline at about 7:50 p.m. and struck Piotrowski's Pontiac. Ringgold and Piotrowski were flown to U.Va.'s hospital after the wreck. Ellis said Ringgold is in fair condition.
The cars collided pretty much head-on, according to state trooper Arthur Wouters. Although no charges had been filed as of Tuesday night, Wouters said, “as of now, we do believe the Oldsmobile is at fault.”
