North Fork veterans invited to free dinner

Posted: September 19, 2012

A free meal for past and present military personnel in the Broadway, Timberville and Fulks Run area will be served Nov. 10 at Chimney Rock VFW Post 9660, near Broadway, from 1-3 p.m.

“I want all the vets to know we appreciate them,” said Margaret Anderson. “My friends and I are doing it.”

Anderson is hosting the dinner in honor of her son Army Spc. Brian “Bucky” Anderson, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2010.

Immediate family members are also invited.

Cargill will be donating turkeys, Anderson said.  “And I’ve even wrangled the [Broadway High School] football coach [Brad Lutz] to help.”

BHS was Bucky Anderson’s alma mater.

In order to organize the meal, reservations are needed. To reserve or volunteer to help, call 820-2331.
