HARRISONBURG — On Tuesday, drivers on Weyers Cave Road — or Va. 256 — will see alternating lane closures as Virginia Department of Transportation crews conduct an inspection on the bridge that crosses over South River at the western town limits of Grottoes.

The work is expected to run from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

VDOT crews will also conduct an inspection of the bridge that carries U.S. 33 over the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks and Fifth Street in Elkton, less than 2,000 feet west of the interchange with U.S. 340.

That work will take place Wednesday, and drivers can expect to see alternating lane and shoulder closures from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.

In Verona, VDOT crews will conduct paving work on Dick Huff and Government Center lanes, as well as Church Street, Neighbor Street, Verona Court Boulevard, Sutton Road and Middle River Drive in the Verona Court subdivision. This work will cause alternating lane closured during the daytime until Sept. 10.
