Woman Remains In Hospital After Motorcycle Crash
HARRISONBURG — As of Tuesday morning, a Shenandoah woman is still recovering at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville followed a crash Saturday in Rockingham County, friends and family say.
Ashley Merica, 29, was flown to Charlottesville Saturday afternoon. She was a passenger on a motorcycle driven by her husband, Jeremy Merica, 34. The couple was traveling on U.S. 33 near Clover Hill Road when they hit a vehicle that was moving from one driveway to another, state police say. Jeremy Merica was treated and released from Sentara-RMH Medical Center.
The crash is still under investigation, state police Sgt. F.L. Tyler said Tuesday morning.
Her condition is improving according to a family member, but the hospital has not returned a reporter's telephone call.
