UPDATE: McGaheysville Man Dies In Late-Night Crash

Posted: April 9, 2013

HARRISONBURG — A McGaheysville man was killed late Monday when the sport utility vehicle he was driving crashed off Stephen Conrad Road in Rockingham County, according to police.

Matthew Wayne Seal, 33, was ejected from the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder after it ran off the road, struck an embankment and flipped over. The vehicle then landed on top of Seal, Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson said. Seal was transported to Rockingham Memorial Hospital, where he later died, the sheriff said.

Two passengers in the SUV were treated and released from RMH, according to Hutcheson. It does not appear that any of the occupants were wearing seat belts, he said.

The crash occurred at about 11 p.m. Monday as Seal was traveling north on Stephen Conrad, about a quarter-mile north of Mount Hermon Road. Hutcheson said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

The Daily News-Record will have a complete report on this story in Wednesday’s print and online editions.
