CHARLOTTESVILLE – Junior forward Daniel Nyce had 17 points to lead Eastern Mennonite High School to a 48-43 win over Tandem Friends in a non-district boys’ basketball game Thursday.
The Flames improved to 1-3; the Badgers fell to 0-4.
Senior guard Josh Connelly scored 16 points for Tandem.

Elaina Black scored 10 of Shenandoah Valley’s 15 points.
The Flames shot 20-of-23 from the foul line and limited SVA to two first-quarter points.

BC’s Francis Receives D-Lineman Of Year
HARRISONBURG – Bridgewater College senior defensive tackle Joel Francis was presented with the state’s College Defensive Lineman of the Year award at the Dudley Award banquet Wednesday by the Touchdown Club of Richmond.
It is the third postseason honor Francis has gotten. He was also the Old Dominion Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year, and he was named second-team All-South Region by D3Football.com.
Francis, of Woodbridge, had 12.5 tackles for loss, the most of any defensive lineman in the ODAC, and was tied for fifth in the league with 4.5 sacks.
