NU Erases JMU
PHILADELPHIA – Forward Nicky Graham scored on a penalty corner with less than six minutes left to lift second-seeded Northeastern University to a 3-2 win over No. 3 seed James Madison in the Colonial Athletic Association field hockey semifinals on Saturday.
The Dukes finished their season at 11-8.
Senior midfielder Jenna Taylor and redshirt junior forward Rachel Wein scored for JMU. Wein and redshirt freshman teammate Taylor West were named to the All-CAA Tournament team.
Drexel (15-6) defeated NU 2-1 on Sunday to secure the CAA title. The Huskies finished 14-6.
Lynchburg Women’s Soccer 2, BC 0: Kristen Melchiori’s shot deflected off Bridgewater College goalie Lindsey McDole’s hand and into the net in the fifth minute, and Lynchburg defeated BC 2-0 to claim the Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship Sunday afternoon in Lynchburg.
The Hornets, who also got a goal from Dana Nelson, improved to 19-0-3; the Eagles finished the season 12-7-2.
BC senior defender Jessica Sites, junior forward Melanie Waters and sophomore defender Elizabeth Stump were named to the ODAC all-tournament team.
