Army Strong — But It Can't Do It Alone

Posted: December 12, 2012

The local Salvation Army is, as always, fully mobilized during the Christmas season, working hard to bring joy to those less fortunate, and fundraising to provide much-needed resources to help the needy throughout the year.

The current state of the exhibit hall at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds is a testament to that hard work — and the generosity of so many indiviuals, families and businesses in our community.

The building has been transformed into a gigantic Santa’s workshop full of toys and other goodies in advance of the December 20th distribution to children and families facing financial hardship this year.

And dozens of locations across the area are alive with the bell ringing of the annual Salvation Army Kettle Drive.

But, the army needs some reinforcements to make it through the Holiday Season. Volunteer Bell Ringers are in short supply.

In addition, the Salvation Army still needs at least 250 more turkeys or chickens to meet their goal for their upcoming holiday food distribution.

So, if you have some extra time or resources that you can direct to this excellent program, the Salvation Army will welcome your generous spirit with open arms.
