Bridge To Reopen In A Week
VDOT: County Span Damaged In Wreck

HARRISONBURG — Transportation officials expect a Rockingham County bridge that was closed on Sunday due to damage to reopen within a week.
The North River Road span near Friedens Church Road east of Mount Crawford was shuttered Sunday following a crash, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Sgt. F.L. Tyler of the Virginia State Police said a tractor-trailer got stuck on the bridge and damaged the guardrail.
Initially, it was unclear when traffic could resume on the span, but officials said Monday it sustained no structural damage.
Sandy Myers, spokeswoman for VDOT, said agency staff members would obtain an emergency contract for the work, which should wrap up in a week if the weather cooperates.
